The Oriental Institute Library is located within the Oriental Institute of the University of Oxford. The Library is primarily intended to meet the needs of the Faculty of Oriental Studies teachers and students, with its core collections comprising of Islamic, South Asian and Jewish Studies.  It was created in 1961 from a number of separate, specialised collections, which were often the private libraries of past professors (notably Margoliouth in the field of Arabic and Thomas in the field of Sanskrit studies).
