AvVail is profiling sites in the UK that are specifically suited to hosting waste to energy plants. They are mostly former brownfields with good logistics connections (rail, water, roads). As the operation of a plant produces significant job and long-lasting career development opportunities, the site should be located in an area that can provide the necessary workforce. Although the sites, having usually been brownfields, would normally lie within an industrial zone, with the plants being environmentally friendly (no emissions, no high stacks, little visual impact asf.) they can be located close to residential areas.
